The study is justified by the versatility of the cuia, traditionally used by riverside communities and indigenous people, and by the need to explore new uses for local materials in design. The overall objective is to develop an innovative coating using cuia, applying specific techniques and tools. The study addresses sustainability, Amazonian biodiversity, and the importance of materials in design, highlighting cuia as a culturally significant and potentially innovative material. The development process includes cutting, dehydrating, and scraping cuia, resulting in coating tiles. Microscopic analysis reveals the physical and chemical characteristics of cuia, while 3D modeling demonstrates its application in indoor environments. Advantages include simplicity of production and flexibility, while disadvantages involve resistance and susceptibility to fungi.
