These models, especially after the 1980s during the military period, focused on the exploitation of natural resources to meet international market interests and raise funds to pay off external debt. The construction of the Trans-Amazonian Highway in the 1970s was a milestone of this period, with the slogan "integrate to not surrender," drastically altering the natural landscape of the Amazon. Mineral exploitation, especially gold mining and large mineral projects, played a fundamental role in this process of internationalizing the Amazon. The city of Itaituba, in Pará, exemplifies the social, economic, and cultural impacts of these activities. The disordered occupation of these remote areas results in a lack of sanitation and medical assistance, aggravating public health problems. The mining cycle is marked by immigration, temporary prosperity, and eventually economic decline and emigration, leaving a legacy of environmental devastation and extreme poverty. Government inefficiency and the lack of basic infrastructure exacerbate the social and environmental impacts in the Itaituba region, and the absence of oversight in mining areas results in socioeconomic consequences that affect the local economy and impact Brazil's image in foreign tradeLíngua PortuguesaAbertoGold miningGoldInternationalizationEconomyImpactos socioambientais e cadeia produtiva do ouro na Amazônia: um estudo de caso de Itaituba-Pará.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC)
