Owing to the globalization of the economy and the emergence of new technologies, in addition to the dissemination of workers' rights, companies are looking for alternatives that contemplate better conditions of safety in the work environments, as well as a better adaptation to the Regulatory Standards, aiming the welfare and physical integrity of its employees. In this context, the use of appropriate practices related to work safety become a differential for the positioning of companies.In the state of Pará, the cermic-potter industry plays an important and effective role, especially in the municipality of São Miguel do Guamá, considered a reference center for production and distribution in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze the production process of a company of the ceramic-potter sector, located in the city of São Miguel do Guamá, using a safety assessment technique. The study presented a bibliographical review about work safety of the ceramic-potter industry and by means of onsite observation of the characteristics of the organization, it was possible to obtain data to construction the Matrix for the Evaluation of Occupational Health and Safety Risks and their subsequent analysis. The non-fulfilment of NR-6 was considered the company's most serious failure, on the other hand, to be more easily resolved.
