In view of this, studies related to the influence of afforestation on urban climate mitigation and environmental quality are necessary to know the thermal comfort. Therefore, the current research aimed to analyze the thermal variability and air quality in points of the city of Belém and to evaluate the mitigating effect of tree species on the microclimate. Thus, the study was conducted in four areas of influence, in which four measuring points of the tree (in the shade, 10m, 20m and 30m). The results showed that the areas located in avenues had higher air temperature and lower humidity, as well as the mitigating effect of the trees in relation to the distance of the points. radiant and moisture conservation. Moreover, in the most urbanized areas the highest wind speed values were found during the two seasonal periods. Regarding carbon monoxide pollution, the highest rates were found in areas with the greatest influence of pollutants (A2 and A4), due to the fact that they are in the center with high flow of vehicles that are sources of this pollutant, and the values were above of the final quality standard for CO, representing a risk to human health. While for carbon dioxide the highest value was found in wooded area, being explained by the presence of vegetation and the diurnal respiration process that results in a CO2 emitting source, in addition a directly proportional relationship between high CO2 index and high temperatures. It is also concluded that the vegetation influences the pollutants mitigation, because even in more polluted areas, in the points near the tree there was a mitigation of the indices.
