Thus, the present work aimed to characterize the research involving waste management and reverse logistics, seeking to identify how these two themes may be being integrated, raising their points of convergence and divergence, as well as opportunities for the development of new research and associated technologies, considering such themes in more current contexts. The methodology to be used in the research was based on a literature review, in which research bases in related areas were researched, in order to contribute with a theoretical basis on the subject. The research results showed that the publications focused on proposing solutions for urban solid waste and electronic waste, with the Circular Economy being the point to be reached within each scenario of the studies. However, few or none of the studies proposed the analysis of more specific solid waste, such as mining, health and transport services, with some gaps to be filled in the future. There was also a lack of research from the African continent, Eastern Europe, Southern South America and Northern North America. Therefore, it is recommended that new scenarios be the target of LR and GR research. As a conclusion at the end of the study, the importance, contributions and challenges for the practice of reverse logistics in the context of waste management are demonstrated, in order to contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts, caused without due consideration of practical tools, approaches, technologies, etc. associated with these themes.Língua PortuguesaAbertoCircular economySustainabilityWaste managementReverse logisticsLiterature reviewTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC)
