Its objective was to develop an illustrated book that was attractive for children from 4 to 6 years of age attending kindergarten in Jardim das Oliveiras, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) located in the district of Castanheira in the city of Belém. In order to carry out the research, the graphic design methodology of Melo (2002) was used, supported by Munari (1998) and a connected case study. The work contains a literature review on the subject, the data collection in the field, a proposal of graphic design based on the data and an evaluation of the prototype. This resulted in an illustrated book titled "Peixe-boi Tôin-Tôin", which was highly appreciated by the children's audience mentioned in the survey. Thus, the result was considered satisfactory. It is concluded that the design has great relevance when creating products aligned to the interest of the users and that there is much potential for the publishing market to explore the area of childhood.
