Acesso em: .https://bibliotecadigitaldetcc.uepa.br/handle/riuepa/732This work was to verify which representations are contained in the books of Linear Algebra of the scientist from Guilherme de La Penha, especially in the topics of (In) linear dependence, generators, base and dimension in a vector space, according to the Theory of Semiotic Representation Registers (TSRS), aiming at its importance in the teaching of these contents. For that, he devoted himself to studying the Theory of Registers of Semiotic Representation developed by Raymond Duval, who studies the role of semiotic representations in mathematical learning, and as support for the analysis was adopted the theory of Content Analysis of Laurence Bardin, the which enabled us to create the following categories of analysis: (i) Introduction of content; (ii) Definition of the mathematical object and (iii) Use of more than one representation of the mathematical object. In the light of the analyzes, it was possible to observe some remarkable characteristics in the books in question, among which, the use of numerical ideas or concepts supports the definition of the topics in question, however without abandoning the mathematical rigor in the definitions. In addition, in general, at least three representations were identified in the analyzed books: representation in natural language, algebraic representation and geometric representation, in which it is possible to observe the highlights to the specificities of the aforementioned mathematical objects, as well as the accomplishment of conversions.
