There are countless strategies adopted so that these companies can successfully remain competitive in the national market. Active companies in this sector have shown preference in prioritizing their main activities and outsourcing the others throughout their chain. Therefore, it is necessary to define the key criteria for a satisfactory decision to meet the needs of the contracting company. It is in this context that the present research seeks to rank the criteria and sub-criteria of selection of logistics operators in a retailer of civil construction materials, located in the Metropolitan Region of Belém - PA, by using the Hierarchical Process Analysis (AHP) method. For this, a systematic review of the literature was carried out in order to map criteria and sub-criteria that could influence the choice of the logistic operator, subsequently the most frequently used criteria and sub-criteria were validated based on questionnaires answered by key employees (e.g., process manager and logistics coordinator) of the company who work in the logistics sector. With these data it was possible to rank the criteria and subcriteria based on the Saaty scale from the AHP method. For the development of this research, it was used the software Microsoft Excel and Expert Choice for organization and for the treatment of collected data, respectively. The results obtained revealed that performance (43.7%) is the most relevant 'key criterion' in contracting the outsourced company, by considering the current scenario of the company. Secondly, costs (18.6%) and quality (18.0%) are criteria that together represent a significant importance in the selection process. The key criteria that presented less relevance to the contractor are service (8.5%), information technology (8.2%) and reputation (3.0%), respectively.
