Therefore, risk management is a topic that has attracted increasing attention in the sector, due to the innumerable risks associated with it, due to the high rates of accidents at work, occupational diseases and mortalities. The objective of this study is to perform the critical analysis of the implementation of a work accident risk management process based on Regulatory Standard 18, performed at a construction site in the Metropolitan Region of Belém-Pa. The methodology of the research is scientific, with the accomplishment of a planned study, of an applied nature, of qualitative approach, with exploratory objective, having as technical procedure the case study and the comparative method. The risk management process carried out at the construction site adopted the methodology proposed by NBR ISO 31000 (ABNT, 2009), through communication and consultation between internal parties (managers, engineers, safety technicians and workers) and external parties (FUNDACENTRO, SINDUSCON and Union of Construction Workers of Belém); establishment of context (defining the scenario that the company was in relation to its risk factors); risk assessment process through the following stages: identification (finding, recognizing and recording risks within the construction site, applying ICT, RAO and CA); analysis (to assist the evaluation process and definition about which variables need to be adjusted, using APR, HAZOP, AMFE / FMAE); (comparing estimated levels of risk using NR-18 compliances as criteria to assist future deliberations in the fields that need to be addressed); (measuring the periodic performance of their indicators, progress or deviations, checking whether the plan is still appropriate for the policy of management). Through the application of the risk management process, the areas with the highest categorization indices were detected in the circular saw operation system, steel frames, welding, handling and transport of materials (cranes and racks) and fall in height. Emphasizing that the technique appropriate to the reality of this company is the APR, because it allows risks to be found early in the system.
