Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Bacharelado em Relações Internacionais) – Universidade do Estado do Pará, Belém, 2023.https://bibliotecadigitaldetcc.uepa.br/handle/riuepa/621This monograph focuses on the forced displacement of Syrians to Brazil due to the civil war that erupted in their country in 2011. It seeks to understand the nuances and complexities of the individual stories of Syrian refugees, challenging stereotypes and promoting a more humanized view of the refugee phenomenon in Brazil. The research is grounded in theoretical frameworks of post-colonial feminism and Edward Said's critiques of Orientalism, aiming to understand how stereotyped narratives affect Syrian refugees in Brazil. These socially constructed “single stories” do not reflect the complexity of these women's individual experiences, potentially leading to loss of individuality and dignity, as well as additional challenges in integrating into Brazilian society. The refugees' accounts, pivotal to this study, reveal not only the traumas of war and migration but also the need to adapt to a new language, culture, and environment, facing social barriers and stigmas partly perpetuated by these “single stories” about this group. The core of the research lies in analyzing the social implications of the “single stories” propagated by Brazilians about Syrian refugees. These stereotyped narratives can dehumanize and confine these women, disregarding their individual experiences and stripping them of their dignity.Língua PortuguesaAbertoRefuge in BrazilSyrian refugeesRefugee identitySingle stories“Histórias únicas” sobre sírias refugiadas no Brasil: uma análise feminista pós-colonial.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC)
